Daikin ductwork repair in San Antonio typically runs $150 – $650 depending on how much duct has failed and where it runs. We stock Daikin-compatible duct fittings, collars, and sealants on our trucks, so most repairs happen the same day we arrive. What usually tips you off is a room that won’t hold temperature, a sudden dust bloom around a vent, or a utility bill that climbed without a matching change in how you run the system.
Ductwork is the part of a Daikin system nobody sees until it misbehaves. In San Antonio’s climate, the attic is where duct lives, and the attic is where the trouble starts. Summer attic temperatures push 140°F. Flexible duct jackets break down under that heat, collars loosen as the metal expands and contracts, and the tape most builders used loses its grip after a few years. You’ll feel it in the rooms farthest from the air handler first.
Which Daikin Models This Applies To
This applies to every Daikin split system and heat pump we service in San Antonio: the Fit series, the DX and DZ communicating lines, and the older R-410A and R-22 systems still running in homes across Alamo Heights, Stone Oak, and the Pearl District. Ductwork doesn’t care which Daikin condenser sits outside. What matters is the connection points: plenum collars, branch takeoffs, and the flex runs that tie the trunk line to each register.
Here’s a compatibility gotcha most homeowners never see coming: Daikin systems often run at lower static pressure than older equipment. That means a duct leak that a builder-grade system tolerated for years will show up almost immediately on a newer Daikin install. If you upgraded to Daikin but kept the old ductwork, the leak didn’t get worse, the system just notices it more. We match duct sizes and collar specs to the model number on your air handler label, not just what the old duct measured. That label is on the inside of the blower access panel, and it tells us everything about the CFM your ductwork needs to carry.
On OEM versus aftermarket: for collars, dampers, and flex duct, quality aftermarket parts from makers like Hart & Cooley or Snappy match or beat what the builder installed. For anything that touches the Daikin communicating controls, like zone dampers with modulating motors, we use Daikin’s part every time. Aftermarket zone dampers don’t always speak the same language as the Daikin thermostat, and a damper that half-opens in August is a callback neither of us wants.

Signs Your Daikin Ductwork Repair Is Failing
- Rooms that won’t reach setpoint. A bedroom in the back of the house stays five degrees warmer than the hallway, no matter what the thermostat says. That’s a leak or a collapsed flex run between the trunk and that register, and the fix is usually a section replacement plus re-sealing the collar.
- Dust around vents and on furniture near registers. A pulled-apart duct joint in the attic pulls insulation fibers and attic dust into the airstream. You’ll see gray or pink dust around one vent, not all of them, which tells us the leak is on that branch line.
- Whistling or fluttering sounds from one vent. Air escaping a torn duct or a loose collar makes noise. The flutter means the inner liner has separated from the outer jacket, a failure of the duct itself.
- Utility bill up $30 – $60 a month with no other change. In a San Antonio summer, a 15% duct leak can add that much. Conditioned air is going into the attic while you pay for it.
- Attic smells coming through the supply vents. If you smell insulation, mouse activity, or that hot attic odor when the system first kicks on, the return side has a gap. That’s also the path for allergens and fiberglass into the kids’ rooms.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Ductwork repair on a Daikin system in San Antonio lands between $150 and $650 installed, and the price depends on three things: how much duct has actually failed, whether we’re replacing a section or resealing a collar, and how reachable the damage is in the attic. A single collar reseal with new mastic and a draw band runs on the low end. Replacing a 10-foot flex run with new insulated duct, two collars, and full sealing lands mid-range. A trunk line section or multiple branch repairs hits the top end.
Every quote is written before we pick up a tool, in dollars, and it includes parts, labor, mastic sealing at every joint we touch, and a photo of the repair after it’s done. The work is backed by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right, we make it right, no fine print. Duct repair doesn’t get the labor warranty some parts do, but our seal work and section replacements are covered for a full year under that promise.
| Ductwork Repair Scope | Typical San Antonio Price |
|---|---|
| Collar reseal, one connection | $150 – $220 |
| Flex run replacement, one branch | $250 – $400 |
| Multiple branch repairs or trunk section | $450 – $650 |
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things. Walk the house and feel each register with the system running: is the airflow roughly equal, or does one vent barely blow? Check the filter, because a clogged filter starves the whole system and mimics duct problems. Look at the visible duct in the garage or utility closet for separated joints or sagging flex. That’s safe to inspect.
What’s not safe is working in a 140°F attic in July, on your back, with a staple gun and a bucket of mastic, trying to reseal a duct over a ceiling joist. Duct work in San Antonio attics is hot, cramped, and easy to get wrong. A collar that isn’t sealed fully just leaks again slower. And any duct repair means disturbing insulation, which is fiberglass, which belongs on your floors never, which is exactly why our crew wears shoe covers and lays drop cloths from the attic ladder to the workspace, and leaves with a photo of the cleanup. If you’ve got a suspicion and want a straight answer, call (254) 271-2545. We’ll tell you what’s actually wrong before anyone writes a ticket.
FAQs
A properly sealed collar or a new flex run should last 12 – 18 years in a San Antonio attic, but the tape and mastic joints need checking every 3 – 4 years because the attic heat eventually dries out sealant. Flex duct jackets degrade faster than metal trunk lines, and that degradation depends on attic ventilation. A well-ventilated attic buys you years. Call (254) 271-2545 if you want us to inspect the duct system during a tune-up.
Most duct problems are repairable section by section. We replace the failed run, reseal the collars, and leave the good duct alone. Full replacement only makes sense when leaks are everywhere, insulation jackets are paper-thin, or the original sizing never matched a Daikin’s airflow needs. We’ll tell you plainly which situation you have.
Most section replacements and reseals take 2 – 4 hours from arrival to cleanup. Multiple branch repairs can stretch to a full day, but we’ll tell you the schedule before work starts and the price before any tool comes off the truck.
We stock common flex duct diameters, collars, draw bands, mastic, and dampers on our vans, so most Daikin duct repairs in San Antonio are completed the same visit. If the job needs a Daikin-specific zone damper or a specialty fitting, we order it and schedule the follow-up within the week.
